“So what’s a girl like you doing in a place like this?”
She giggled and that was his first sign that she was well on her way to being drunk. Gil glanced around the dimly lit bar and wondered what had brought them back again.
It was where they had met and he wasn’t all that surprised to see little had changed in the time since.
“Catherine? Why are we here?”
He couldn’t help but think she looked slightly adorable. Her eyes half closed, hair slightly messy as she propped her self up at the table, discarded drink at her elbow.
“You don’t remember?”
He sat back and fiddled with his own glass, thinking.
He’d finished off the glass with her watching silently before it occurred to him. “16 today.”
Catherine grinned and nodded silently, “Where else would I bring you to celebrate?”
He shook his head and wondered how he could have forgotten.
“Don’t worry, you’ll remember next year.”
“When did I become so easy to read?”
She smirked and blinked at him, “You always have been to me.”
Catherine leaned across the table then and caught him off guard as she pressed a soft kiss to his lips. “Happy anniversary Gil.”
