She remembers his fingertips digging into her hips and the feel of the sheets
twisted beneath them.
She remembers him whispering her name again and again against her ear.
She remembers running her fingers through his hair as they dressed and jokingly
saying he needs a hair cut.
Mostly she remembers kissing him goodbye every time they left the motel and
feeling like her heart would shatter because she could never take him home.
But watching him walk away for good makes the pain of those goodbyes seem like
nothing and this time, she doesn’t think it’s going to fade.
